The education is the leaners’ way to growing and developing the knowledge and awareness of life, learning to socialize, adapt and be prepared to deal with any challenge of life and one of the basic needs of an individual to thrive in life. In order to achieve the desired good education, it involves the use of existing learning styles or methods. Each individual uses different information gathering styles. Others prefer to see and handle the desired study and who also want to hear what they are learning. This study focus on students learning styles that will be preferred in a different way in skills necessary and to access the knowledge for students to understand and learn better. The researchers also studies the importance of learning and multiple-intelligence of the student characteristics because these are important knowing of their situation in the surroundings and determinants of Academic Performance.
The style of study is a way to learn more about an individual. Gardner (1983)’s concept of “multiple intelligences” is considered to be a style of learning. According to him, the storybook is the style in which an individual learns more by listening to information such as class discussions, speeches and more. Kinesthetic learning is a style in which an individual’s learning is through physical activities. And the visual style refers to learning information with related emissions and other representations such as maps and graphs.
According to Da Rita and Kenneth Dunn (1998), teachers are also required to test some changes where these changes will be beneficial in all study styles. Some examples are the addition of classroom descriptions and the availability of class activities. The style of study differs especially in age by Spoon and Schell (1998). According to Zhang Yu (2008), the style of study differs because of the various factors affecting an individual’s learning, for example, the environment and emotions of a student.
This study aims to improve the learning style of each student, provide information about the style of study being used, help the problem of students, help teachers understand the lesson of the students and learn the benefits of the learning styles used today. It is important to study it to address the needs and disadvantages of each student in their study, to help teachers understand lessons correctly with each student, to send students to what others learning styles that will help to improve the knowledge of each student and improve your own thinking and awareness of learning make it easier and faster to answer questions easier to solve and make other work and prepare each individual themselves for the future and be prepared for life
In this study, it is necessary to understand the concepts related to this research. Here are some theories that help to fully understand this study.
According to Howard Gardner (1983) in his theory of multiple intelligences auditory is a style in which an individual learns more by listening to information such as class discussions, speeches and more. Kinesthetic learning is a style in which an individual’s learning is through physical activity. And visually refers to studying information with related emissions and other representations such as maps.
The major problems of the world can be solved only if it improves the understanding of human behavior (BF Skinner 1978). This includes behaviorism or psychological behavior which means that learning occurs when a behavior change is obtained as a result of a study or consequence of stimuli, cognitivism or cognitive psychology that means the study is a change in knowledge stored in an individual’s memory and, constructivism if learning is the process in which individuals form new ideas or concepts based on prior knowledge.
According to Gregory and Butler, each individual has different methods to learn. Everyone has different strengths, different tastes, different weaknesses, and everyone ask various questions.
The statement of VARK Neil Fleming model (1987) that each of students has own style of study and students are trying to do all what to do because they want to be a successful in the learning process in which he or she belongs. In VARK Neil Fleming model there are three learning styles process visual learner learned by seeing, auditory learner learns by hearing , and kinesthetic learner learns by feeling or experiencing this learning style can apply to the learners and identify what are their preferred learning style and which one use the most among the three basic types of learning styles strategies he or she belongs.
Meanwhile, according to Donita and Kenneth Dunn (1998), even teachers should also try some changes where these changes will be beneficial to all students.
